MQTT is a standard messaging protocol for IoT connectivity. This publish/subscribe-type protocol is extremely lightweight and simple. I was designed for simple devices and networks with low bandwidths, high latency or low availability. Nowadays, MQTT is used in a great variety of industries, such as the auto industry, manufacturing, telecommunications, and the oil and gas industry, among others.

Neuron allows us to create MQTT gateways that use this protocol to upload data from the sensors onto the AWS cloud in a highly efficient way.

Thus, in order to be able to connect to a greater variety and number of sensors available on the market, at Neuron we've decided to leverage Advantech's WISE-EdgeLink, a software platform that implements 200+ industrial protocols. So what does this mean? This means that via WISE-EdgeLink and MQTT, Neuron can read data from the majority of standard sensors in the industry and upload them to AWS IoT to process, categorize, and store all the information retrieved from an installation.

Thanks to all this, Neuron's MQTT gateways make a safe and inexpensive system that allows you to get your money’s worth on your installation’s IoT devices due to its main advantage: compatibility.

If you have any questions about which industrial protocol to use in your installation, you can read this article or contact our technical support team at neuron@plexo.cloud.
