The Equipment and Resources sections in Neuron App are linked. Each of their sub-sections establishes relationships with one another:
Gateways display and establish connections between devices connected to Neuron Edge.
Neuron Edge ingests data from those devices and uses models to apply metrics and transforms, so Neuron knows which parameters to apply to each set of data.
Neuron then displays those data converted into information, in the assets sub-section, within the Resources section.
Through this process, Neuron knows where to find the data (gateways), what parameters to apply to each reading (model), and where to display all the information produced by each device (asset).
Gateways
A gateway is the software that creates and manages the connections between Neuron Edge, Docker, Neuron App and the various connected devices. These allow us to structure devices to successfully manage an installation.
Within a gateway we find the modules, which are the devices responsible for connecting the sensors to Neuron, and the sensors, which are the different connected devices responsible for collecting information (sensors) or executing commands (actuators).
Models
A model is a template for creating standardized asset categories. These are master structures for creating assets. With them, we can create Metrics and Transforms to apply their values to all assets created from that model.
They allow us to create a pattern for processing device data and for it to be displayed in Assets as information.
Assets
Assets are the digital representation of our physical devices, the way the application displays device information to us.
With them, we can monitor our equipment’s status, supervise the correct operation of the processes, know the values that the device measures: temperature, speed, pressure...; access the total metrics of the devices and create file transforms.
