Sometimes, it may not be possible or desirable to install a sensor in your device. In such situations, Neuron provides the option to create virtual models and assets, which can be very helpful for manually tracking and recording measurement information of certain installation assets.

The steps for creating a virtual model are:

  • Click on Resources menu option.

  • Select Models card.

  • In the models summary view click on the Add button. If you don't see the Add button, ask your administrator because it is very likely that you don't have the required permissions.

  • Fill out the required fields and create as many measurement fields as you need. Click on the Save button.

  • Once you have created your model, you have to create your asset from it.

  • Navigate to Assets card under Resources menu option.

  • In the assets summary view click on the Add button. If you don't see the Add button, ask your administrator because it is very likely that you don't have the required permissions.

  • Fill out the required fields. In the model dropdown, select the virtual model you have created in a previous step.

  • Click on the Save button and your virtual asset will be created.

When you want to manually add a measurement into the asset, navigate to the asset and click on the Information tab (it should be the default active tab when you open the asset).

Navigate to the measurements section and click on the orange pencil.

The add measurement form pops up with information about the latest value and the exact timestamp it was added.

Set the measurement value and the date time with seconds precision. The date time cannot be in the future and should not be prior to 10 days in the past.

This is the simple procedure to manually store information about any asset you want to track without installing any sensor on it.
